Our Story

In the summer of 1983, a month-long cross-country trip, which included a two-week backpacking trek, sparked a lifelong passion for the outdoors. The journey led me to Philmont Scout Ranch, the Boy Scouts' premier high-adventure camp, located in the rugged Sangre De Cristo Range of New Mexico. This experience at Philmont was the perfect introduction to the world of adventure and exploration, igniting a path that would shape my life.

After achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, my journey continued with a 30-year military career, offering numerous assignments and operational experiences that took me around the globe. These experiences have provided me with challenges, hardships, and purpose, and shaped my unique perspective on how I connect with the world around me. Now, I feel it is time to share the lessons I have learned over the years and give back to the community of adventure seekers and weekend explorers.

While not everyone can take a year off to hike iconic trails or embark on lengthy overland expeditions, adventure is still within reach. Sometimes, it's as simple as stepping out in the morning to find a quiet spot in the world or catching a few miles on a flowing singletrack trail after work. These moments, though brief, can be just as epic—offering a chance to escape the stresses of everyday life and find peace in nature.

Volunteering

As an Eagle Scout and an Arrowman in the Boy Scouts of America, I was taught the values of "do a good turn daily" and "cheerful service" from a young age. These values have been further reinforced throughout my military career, where the Army's emphasis on selfless service built upon the foundations of Scouting. Today, I continue to volunteer locally, working on projects that protect public parks and provide recreational opportunities for all outdoor enthusiasts.
